The Central Library of Dakshin Kamrup Girls’ College Mirza, Today 23rd February 2022 at 11.00 A.M organized a student oriented Lecture Programme “GRANTHALAP” in the Digital Classroom of the college. The lecture was attended by good number of Teacher, Students and members of non-teaching staff. Dr. Mrinal Kalita, the Sahitya Academy Awardee for children literarure 2021 graced the chair as Resource Person. The topic of his talk was “Benefits of Reading”. The event was inaugurated with a welcome note from Dr. Ranjan Bhuyan, Principal i/c and concluded with vote of thanks from Dr. Kishor Sarma the Librarian of the College.

The Central Library of Dakshin Kamrup Girls’ College, Mirza has been organizing a students’ oriented programme called “GRANTHALAP” since 2022. This year the event was organized on 24th February, 2023 at 11.00 A.M. Professor Dr. Amarjyoti Chodhury a renowed scholar and Ex- Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Tezpur Central University adorned the chair of Resource Person. The motto of the event was to encourage the young students for developing reading habits. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Ranjan Bhuyan, Vice Principal of the college. The programme started with the college anthem performed by the students of the college. Dr. Kishor Sarma, Librarian of the college, anchored the meeting. Speaking on the occasions, Professor Choudhury highlighted on the lives of some of the renowned persons of the country who flourished in their lives because of their command over knowledge. This knowledge was acquired by them through different books written by highly experienced authors. Thus he remarks that to succeed in life, one must read as much as possible. After the speech, a fruitful interactive session also enhanced the beauty of the session. The meeting was concluded with the state anthem. The vote of thanks was conferred by Dr. Prashanta Bora, Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese.

A student oriented lecture programme was organized from the Central Library today, 23-02-2024 at 11.30 AM, in the Digital Classroom of the college. The lecture was attended by a good number of teachers, students and members of non-teaching staff. Mr. Manoj Kumar Goswami, the Sahitya Academy awardee, Chief Editor of “Amar Asom” and “N K TV” graced the chair as Resource Person. The event was inaugurated with a welcome note from Dr. Nara Kanta Adhikary, Principal of the college. Prior to that, a short account on the biography of Mr. Manoj Kumar Goswami was given by the Librarian Dr. Kishor Sarma.

The Resource Person highlighted on the importance of Mother Tongue for creating literature. Citing the example of Noble Prize winner in literature 2023, Mr. Goswami said that Norway is a small country inhabited by about forty – four lakh people using their Norweign language for official as well educational purposes. But in spite of that a man from such a small country, Jon Fosse writing in mother tongue succeeding in winning the Nobel Prize for the year 2023. Whereas, Assamese is a rich language used by more than two crore people. He therefore appealed the new generation to engage in translation work of some great Assamese works in other Indian languages so as to establish the supremacy of the language in the world literature. A fruitful interaction with the students is another noteworthy part of the event.

The meeting was concluded with the State Anthem. The vote of thanks was conferred by Dr. Prasanta Bora, Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese.
